What is the future of energy supply in the region?
The Wilhelmshaven site plays a special role as the centre of Germany's energy supply. For decades, private house-holds and industrial customers have been supplied with energy sources such as oil and gas via the well-developed infrastructure.
Now the location on the Jade Bay is being developed into an energy hub - a centre for the production, import and distribution of environmentally friendly and safe energy sources of the future. The import of LNG is seen as a bridging technology to secure the energy supply in the short term.
Around 40 companies have joined forces in the Energy Hub Port of Wilhelmshaven to develop the location in the Jade-Weser region into an energy supply hotspot for Europe. To this end, the members have developed more than 30 clima-te-neutral projects. The various projects include the production and storage of green and blue hydrogen, electrolysis for the production of H2, the import and transmission of ammonia, water treatment and the production of electricity.
